Italian Colors: Your Weekly Italian Newsletter from Rome
A weekly Italian newsletter about food, culture, and everyday life in Rome.
I’m an Italian writing about everyday life here. The food I cook (or eat), the places I walk, the traditions I grew up with.
Each letter is a small glimpse of real Italian life: sometimes a recipe, sometimes a word, sometimes a memory.
Why Subscribe to Italian Colors?
- You’re curious about real Italian life – not just the highlights.
- For you, food is culture, not just recipes.
- In your world, words like vino and cappotto carry stories beyond translation.
- You enjoy letters that are sometimes long and reflective, sometimes brief like postcards.
- You like knowing they are written and photographed by someone who actually lives here, in Rome.
- And you appreciate occasional glimpses of the SIMPOSIO cookbooks that grew from the same streets and kitchens.
A Letter From Rome
Italian Colors is written from my life in Rome.
Not from a studio. Not from a travel itinerary. But from walks, markets, conversations, and kitchen tables.
Some weeks it’s about a recipe.
Some weeks it’s about a word that doesn’t translate.
Some weeks about something small, like waiting for wine to breathe.
Italy isn’t just food…
- It’s the way we wait for a wine to decant.
- The way we spend hours chatting (and gesticulating), in the middle of a piazza.
- The way we always eat outside whenever we can.
- The way we walk through the city for hours, in search of a bellissimo spot.
- The way we always have fresh bread and vegetables.
- The way we respect ingredients and the pace of time.
- The way we enjoy life.
