Italian Colors is my weekly newsletter about Italian food, culture, and everyday life in Rome and beyond.
It’s my way of letting you into a real Italian life. It’s my point of view, of course, so expect a lot of bias. Hopefully, a bias towards the search for beauty, the comprehension of Italy’s endless heritage, and the recovery of what was wrongly lost.
At the risk of repeating myself: culture is the only way I know to make every day of our lives, simply, interesting—well worth all the fuss around us.
A Letter From Rome
I live in Rome, and that’s where I write Italian Colors—unless I’m travelling around the peninsula.
I sincerely love my country, even though it often drives me crazy.
Modernisation, sometimes brutal, other times soulless. Overtourism—remember? I live in Rome. Standardisation, fretta, endless competition.
These are all things I simply can’t deal with. It’s not in my nature. My nature is to go beyond them and question, observe, understand.
I like travelling, cooking, reading (and researching). I like wandering around and stumbling on the unexpected. I also love to write. It’s how I communicate, how I share my precious finds.
So this is what you’ll find in my weekly newsletters.
I can’t promise continuity of topics, I can’t promise trendy topics, but I can promise fun—if by fun we all mean something interesting, culturally enriching, with a tad of personal insight.
I don’t care whether it’s the Colosseum or the remotest unknown village on top of a forgotten mountain. It has to be interesting. And hopefully, if it interests me, it will also interest you.
