HOW TO MAKE SPRITZ CARAMEL APPLES
My caramel apple recipe for Halloween is caramel apple pops inspired by the king of the Italian aperitivo: the Spritz.
It is a caramel apple recipe from scratch and without corn syrup. The ingredients are sugar, inverted sugar syrup, vinegar, prosecco, Aperol, oranges, and apples, of course.

HOW TO SERVE OR OFFER THE SPRITZ APPLES
These Spritz caramel apples on a stick are not only delicious but beautiful to place on a spooky table. But you can also give the caramel apples as favors, wrapped in plastic and decorated with a cute black twine or ribbon.

Spritz caramel apples
Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 tablespoons inverted sugar syrup
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1/3 cup prosecco
- ¼ cup Select or Aperol
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- grated zest from 2-3 oranges
- 8 apples
Instructions
-
Place the sugar, syrup, and vinegar in a heavy pot and bring to a boil over medium heat.
-
Reduce the heat enough to keep the liquids simmering.
-
Remove the pot from the heat after 10-15 minutes - it has to be caramelized, not burnt.
-
Immediately add the Prosecco, Select or Aperol, and orange juice and stir vigorously. Be careful: it will splatter a bit.
-
Dip and swirl the apples into the caramel while it is still hot.
-
Display the apples over waxed paper and let them cool for 5 minutes.
-
Dip the bottom of each apple in the orange zest and return to cool completely.
Recipe Notes
Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to five days.

Enjoy your Spritz caramel apples,
Hihihihihi (witch laugh)
