Here’s an Italian Christmas sangria recipe made with red wine, clementines, apples, and rosemary. A red wine Christmas sangria for your holiday parties!
Sangria is Spanish, we all know that, but as I live in Italy, I made an Italic version. This red sangria is a delicious drink for holiday gatherings. It’s super easy to make, and you can (actually, you should) prepare it a day ahead. So all you have to do when your guests arrive is to serve the drink and celebrate.
A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR ITALIAN COOKS
HOW TO MAKE THE ITALIAN SANGRIA
The ingredients of this red Christmas sangria recipe are classic: apples, cinnamon, cloves, and tangerines. But then there’s rosemary, a wintry herb that perfectly exalts the flavor of apples and wine.
To make the Italian Christmas sangria really delicious, you must use a good quality wine. Choose between Sangiovese, Dolcetto, Nero d’Avola, Primitivo di Manduria, Barbera, or Lambrusco.
Italian Christmas sangria
- 1/2 cup rum
- 1 bottle red wine
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 2 teaspoons cloves
- 1 cup carbonated lemonade or 7-up
- 3 clementines
- 1 apple
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- 2 tablespoons honey
Juice the clementines and keep a few wedges. Slice the apples (leave the peel on but remove the seeds).
Pour the wine and the honey into a pitcher and stir until completely incorporated.
Add the rum, carbonated lemonade, spices, clementine juice, extra wedges, apple slices, and rosemary.
Mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least 24 hours.
Serve your Italian sangria very cold and enjoy your Christmas!
