A prosciutto and figs appetizer for an Italian dinner party.

open fig with ham and chives on a glass plate

Actually, there is no recipe for the traditional prosciutto and figs appetizer: it is just the two ingredients served and savored together, on lazy Summer days, here in Italy.

In Rome, we add pizza bianca, white pizza: we put prosciutto and figs (sliced or simply cut in two) on top of a greasy and crispy slice, or open it in two and stuff it.

I do, anyway, have a recipe for you: “prosciutto e fichi” with prosciutto¬†cotto, ham, chives, and parmesan flakes. It’s a gourmet Italian appetizer!
