Actually, there is no recipe for the traditional Italian Prosciutto e Fichi, prosciutto and figs appetizer: it is just the two ingredients served and savored together, on lazy, too-hot-to-cook Summer days.

In Rome, we add pizza bianca, white pizza by the slice: we put prosciutto and figs (sliced or simply cut in two) on top of a greasy and crispy slice, or open it in two and stuff it.

I do, anyway, have a recipe for you: “prosciutto e fichi” with prosciutto cotto, chives, and parmesan flakes. It’s a gourmet, easy-to-put-together appetizer!
