Zampognari are Italy’s Christmas singers (more accurately musicians): right-out-of-a-crib men, wearing traditional costumes and a sort of bagpipe, playing Christmas melodies.
What are Italian Zampognari
Originally, Zampognari were shepherds who came down from the hills for Christmas to celebrate with their families. And they used to entertain everyone back home with their music. They’re called Zampognari after the zampogna, their instrument.

Where to find Zampognari
Nowadays you can find Zampognari in Christmas markets and around the streets of Rome and other touristic cities.
If you meet one, stop for a few minutes, enjoy the music, remember my story, and give them a little tip to contribute to preserving Italian traditions.
Enjoy your Christmas in Italy!
