birthday in Sicily

My bday gift was a Syracuse weekend. With theater, food, beach and delightful walks. Grazie Luca! 😍😘😘😘

No wonder I planned a Sicilian project, the three legs project (3 legs because of the flag) once home.

No wait, I was on the airplane, with my two new Sicilian cooking books! I bought one because it had the almond granita recipe. The other one because it had wonderful pictures…

Anyway, if you ever go to Syracuse in May or June, you must visit the Greek theater, and watch a Greek tragedy.

You’ll love it!

The actors, the atmosphere, the changing of lights (from plain day, to sunset, to almost night). I hope my pics will be able to show the magic atmosphere.

We saw Electra, in a Blade Runner, kind of, setting. {did you know Anthony Bourdain’s NY market will be Blade Runner themed?}

When you get back home, look for Tropea onions, not only because they’re delicious, but because you need them to make this salad.
